BMD delivers projects for clients and partners in the urban development, transport infrastructure, resources and energy, and defence sectors. The Group is comprised of five business units including BMD Constructions, BMD Urban, Empower Engineers & Project Managers, JMac Constructions and Urbex.
Established in 1979, BMD has 15 office locations and operates in every state and territory across Australia. We employ approximately 1700 people and have over 100 active projects at any one time.
With a 40 year history of delivering infrastructure which has changed the shape of Australia, BMD is renowned for projects including the $1.5 billion Legacy Way tunnel; the $200 million Victoria International Container Terminal project at Port of Melbourne; Australia’s largest freight rail infrastructure project, Inland Rail in Parkes; Brisbane’s new parallel runway at Brisbane Airport and Perth’s first smart freeway.

Graduates work across multiple capabilities within our diverse portfolio including roads, highways, bridges, airports, defence, urban development, public infrastructure, rail, resources and industrial.
What we offer
BMD offers students paid, ongoing employment as undergraduates while they complete their studies. Our undergraduates don’t just work in their university holidays, but rather our team works with them to arrange flexible, ongoing employment that fits in with their study commitments throughout their degree.
Each year, BMD employs approximately 40 undergraduates and up to 35 graduates across the country. Our graduates undertake a 12-month program which includes a structured competency framework across three modules focused on unlocking their full potential.
Our graduates are offered real support mechanisms in an environment where individual contributions are invited and respected. They are provided with the opportunity to excel and demonstrate capability and willingness to contribute in a work environment that is flexible for the individual while still being offered countless and diverse opportunities.
Given the nature of BMD’s work, we primarily recruit engineering graduates, however from time to time positions in human resources, communications and marketing, and finance and accountancy are also offered
